Course Content
The course structure is designed to offer a comprehensive approach to caregiving through a blended learning model, combining online educational materials with interactive classroom-style engagement. Here's an overview of the course curriculum, aligned with the ICOPE guidelines provided by the World Health Organization:
Module 0: Understanding the Aging Process and Healthy Aging Concept
In this introductory module, we delve into the fundamentals of the ageing process and explore what it means to promote healthy ageing. Understanding these concepts lays a solid foundation for effective caregiving.
Module I: Preventing Accelerated Functional Loss
This module focuses on strategies to prevent accelerated functional decline in older individuals. Topics include mobility loss, malnutrition, cognitive impairment, and depressive symptoms—key areas where proactive intervention can significantly improve quality of life.
Module II: Managing Geriatric Syndromes
Here, we address the management of geriatric syndromes commonly associated with care dependency. Topics covered include the risk of falls, incontinence, bedsores, dementia, depression and chronic diseases—critical aspects of care that require specialised attention and effective management strategies.
Module III: Interventions to Support Caregiving and Prevent Caregiver Strain
In the final module, we explore interventions aimed at supporting caregivers and preventing caregiver strain. This includes strategies to enhance caregiver well-being, manage stress, and foster a supportive caregiving environment for both the caregiver and the care recipient.
Each module is carefully crafted to provide essential knowledge and practical skills necessary for effective caregiving. By following this structured curriculum, caregivers can gain confidence, competence, and a deeper understanding of their role in promoting the health and well-being of older individuals.

Our online modules are designed to provide concise yet comprehensive lessons, each lasting between 12-15 minutes. These lessons cover relevant topics essential for your caregiving journey. To reinforce your learning, quizzes are included for each topic. We encourage you to further enhance your knowledge by exploring recommended materials independently. Your progress and experiences will be shared and discussed in the forum resource available at the end of each topic.
Presential Component
At the conclusion of each module, you'll have the opportunity to connect with a skilled trainer in a transformative session. Using flipped classroom and round-table methodologies, you'll explore the material learned online, share real-world scenarios, and engage in meaningful discussions.
